Hundreds of protesters clashed with riot police across central Athens on Wednesday, smashing cars and hurling gasoline bombs during a nationwide labour protest against the government's latest austerity measures. The former Minister for Development Kostis Hatzidakis was attacked by protesters outside a luxury hotel. He was escorted, bleeding from the scene as his attackers yelled "thieves" at him.

A cruel reality of how immigrants find their way to the land of milk and honey called Europe. It seems that only Greece is guarding the border on the south eastern frontier of Europe. Instead of helping economies of poor and underdeveloped countries. we letting them come to Europe. Also how it is possible that rich oil producing countries in the Middle East won't help their own. They have money to sponsor Mosques around the world but not to develop their own countries and it's neighbours which with whom they share the same "religion"

I've been in several different magazines, such as PC World and CPU Magazine. I'm not stranger to the pages of a magazine, but this is something completely different - even for me! This magazine is Glamour Magazine... the September 2009 issue. But, before you head to your newsstand to pick one up, let me warn you that it's from Greece. Save yourself the embarrassment thumbing through Glamour here in America. It won't do you any good.

4000 YEARS GREEK ARMY

the great greek 4000 years old army.unstopable!from the ancient brave warriors like alexander the great, king leonidas and achillus with the byzantine empire and his legends over the destroing of the ottoman empire with the heroes of 1821 theodoros kolokotronis, papaflesas, karaiskakis, bouboulina, nikitas(turkeater) and many others over to the great greek soldiers of the world war 2 like pavlos melas for our freedom against the attack of 3 countries (albania, italy, bulgaria) and destroed them.holding back nazi germany for over 1 and half year and greece take a big part of the victory over the 3.reich.hellas thriskia orthodoxia
long live the hellenic army
Apart from the epic enthusiasm of this video uploader there are indeed some top facts about Greek army.
Fear not machines. Fear men.
Greek tanks, artillery, airplanes, rockets, guns are the same as of every other army. Also Greece has no serious production of such things. Actually has no industrial production of almost anything. Greece has been forced by the associates to buy even the buttons for the army uniforms.
The great difference was always not the machines but the men and women fighters of Greece.
There is globally acceptable that Greek (and Israel) fighter pilots are the best in the world. That is by fact, not wishing. Also, naval personnel carry on a long tradition of seafaring skills and fighting at sea. For example, recall that Greek shipping is the first in world-list. Think of it, a so small country is first at the world shipping. Last but not least ground forces men are known for thousands of years for their four points of fame.
- They face tremendous hardship without stepping back.
- They are unbeatable when in defence line and never retreat unless in tactical movement, even today. Massive-panic at long range battle or in close encounter combat is an unknown term.
- They are unbeatable in guerrilla mode of warfare.
- And they never surrender unless they are ordered to do so, even then that is not for sure.
If you examine the thousands of years long Greek history, until today, the any stories of army defeat have always to do with some kind of politicians’ involvement, traitors, bribes, and things like that. For example, many think that the WWII German occupation of Greece was after a Greek army defeat. Nope! It was not. Germans advanced in a route to capital of Greece thus convincing the terrified politicians to give up. The same happened a few years ago when Turks trespassed Greek islet of Imia and Greek politicians just let it go by agreeing with Turks to consider the Greek islet as a no-mans-land for both sides!
So, here comes to talk about the recent situation with the economic crisis and the debt issue in Greece. The unrest of these days has to do again with the same old Greek pattern; people hate the politicians for they left the country vulnerable by playing games and by having dubious relations and by taking bribes to sell short on Greece's interests. All of that happened in all fields of interest, political, economical, national.
Yes, these politicians are Greeks too -no comments- so that now you are again confused about what Greece and Greeks are anyway.
But if you ask any Greek, who lives in Greece, which is the most unbearable thing for him he will not answer at first about poverty, not about salary cuts, not about the invasive millions of illegal-immigrants in this small non industrial country, nor unemployment, neither hunger. The top and first answer from anyone will be about politicians’ betrayal. Amaze and awe.

The next song in video clip (two versions) has written, as many other songs and music for the same reason, to honor and praise for the dead men and women fighters of Greece.

blog’s comment:
That dawn, envoy arrives Morning of October 28th No day, proven by deed Descendence of Sparta, Athens and Crete Look north, ready to fight Enemies charge from the hills To arms, facing defeat There's no surrender, there's no retreat Time after time, force their enemies back to the line Call to Arms banners fly in the wind, For the glory of Hellas Coat of Arms reading freedom or death, Blood of king Leonidas Air raid, pounding the land Bombers are flying both day and night Endure, six days of rain Dropped by invaders, bomb raid in vain Strike hard, the tables have turned, Drive them back over the hills At arms, just like before, Soldiers, civilians, Hellas at war By their own hand, forced their enemy out of their land Call to Arms banners fly in the wind, For the glory of Hellas Coat of Arms reading freedom or death, Blood of king Leonidas Just like their ancestors ages ago Fought in the face of defeat Those three hundred men left a pride to uphold Freedom or death in effect Then, now again Blood of heroes saving their land Call to Arms banners fly in the wind, For the glory of Hellas Coat of Arms reading freedom or death, Blood of king Leonidas (x2) |
